Feel that summer heat coming? Cool off with the shade of the BAM and its cultural event schedule

Culture, music, science, poetry, sports, and – why not? – lots of chill out: with a lush schedule of 180 free events for all, the BAM - Biblioteca degli Alberi Milano welcomes the warm season to melt all that ice around our social lives away. It does this by offering entertainment and fun for adults, children, families, and even our four-legged friends. A return to the light and the outdoors with a taste of rebirth: “A cultural event schedule based on the dialogue between ‘culture and nature’, two primary needs of man, and key elements for the development and regeneration of society. The pandemic has made them even more urgent, and we have tried to answer with a new approach to sustainable culture” states Francesca Colombo, Chief Culture Officer of the BAM - Riccardo Catella foundation.

Events include workouts for new mothers, parkour acrobatics for the fittest, AirBadminton tournaments, concerts, itinerant poetry, and the LidoBAM for a deserved and cool rest under our “ventilating” beach umbrellas.

“A rich and internationally-inspired schedule that turns the park into a green agora of culture” – adds Kelly Russell Catella, Managing Director of the Riccardo Catella Foundation – that will include a wide range of activities featuring special guests such as the Italian Ministry for Ecological Transition Roberto Cingolani, Noam Chomsky with a lectio magistralis, the writer Paolo Giordano, then off to space with the astronaut Maurizio Cheli. Meet these stars in a unique location where you to breathe fresh air and culture, and let the melodies of the ‘Festa d’estate’ (summer party) enchant you – featuring musical protagonists Paolo Fresu and Daniele di Bonaventura – while you dream of September, when Stefano Bollani and his exciting notes will delight all of us with the third great classical music concert.

To round off the schedule, there is the under-40 design contest focused on sustainable architecture and the participatory art installations by the Brera Academy, with the musical background by Claudio Abbado’s Civica Scuola di Musica.

Our summer program has something for every taste, age, and occasion, and its protagonists are the visitors of Portanuova, the park’s Green Community, the BAM Friends, and the park itself, with the new Blooming Room: an emblem of its identity. Culture is nature at the BAM!
