The Varesine Promenade at Portanuova welcomes “Six”, entrepreneur Mauro Orlandelli’s innovative space. A setting, project and concept with two souls: one romantic and bohemian, the other technological and metropolitan. Six masterfully combines design, food, beverage and music. Everything revolves around the kitchen designed with the consultancy of Andrea Colombo and whose activity is based on “close”, fresh, and organic ingredients according to the seasonality, zero waste and authenticity values. These are important values for low-temperature sous-vide cooking, including infrared cooking, employing innovation and technology to rediscover the great classics of Mediterranean cuisine as well as the international dishes prepared by chef Jacopo Calcagnile. The scenic 15-metre (49’) volcanic rock counter is the stage of the show by barman and mixologist Gabriele Dodi, who is an expert in new fermentation and sous-vide techniques, while surprising visitors with stunning tailor-made creations. Six is also meticulously designed to be a treat for the eye: sitting in its rooms is a fascinating experience for our inner selves thanks to its beautiful spaces starring made-to-measure designer’s furniture perfectly combined with Danish articles, peculiar artifacts, and 1950s pieces, which may all be purchased. Its pleasure is also conveyed by the warm atmosphere created with the dim stage lights that bring out materials such as wood, ceramic, stone, leather, and coarse iron, mingling with the warm sunlight from the large windows. Such an aesthetically pleasing experience is embellished by nature in various forms: from the Terrarium – a large tank full of herbs and spices for dishes and cocktails – to the patio with its beach umbrellas surrounded by trees added to Six styling thanks to the landscapist Francesca Scalise. Whether it is for lunch, dinner, aperitif or brunch, for business or pleasure, and with its shared tables for private events and live music, Six is a creative and recreative hub for every occasion and any time of the day, set to become one of the hottest destinations in Milan.
Six is at 13 Via Mike Bongiorno
