The Riccardo Catella Foundation launches a sustainable architecture competition

It’s your turn! The call for tenders for sustainable architecture design at the BAM - Biblioteca degli Alberi Milano and the public areas of Portanuova is online. It is promoted by the Riccardo Catella Foundation and has been developed in cooperation with the Board of PPC Architects of the Milan area, under the patronage of the City of Milan and dedicated to under-40 architects and civil engineers.

The design approach must correspond to the values expressed by the District and the foundation: sustainability, responsibility, inclusiveness, armony with the environment, and openness to a dynamic and constantly evolving society.

The competition is an invaluable growth opportunity for the young designers, from whom “we hope to receive innovative and smart ideas fitting the city’s development”, states Kelly Russell Catella, Managing Director of the Riccardo Catella Foundation. The goal of the initiative is to create temporary and “contemporary” innovative and sustainable structures for an improved experience at the BAM park and the public areas of Portanuova. The designers will have the opportunity to show their talent and creativity in the 3 categories “at stake”: Master kiosk and toilets; Small kiosk for food & beverage; merchandise and Temporary shop.

The Jury will include a representative of the Municipality of Milan, a member of the Riccardo Catella Foundation, an architect elected by the Board of PPC Architects of the Milan area, a representative of COIMA SGR S.p.A. - the Park Developer and Supporter – and a professional in the field of architecture.

Information and call for entries are available on the Concorrimi digital platform.

The opening of the winning structures is planned for the second half of 2022.
